Pompeii

Pompeii is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, designed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Founded in the 8th century BC, it was completely destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The lava covered the land surrounding it, including the famous Herculaneum, and killed people and animals while running away or in their houses.
